Ingredients
  

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup chopped cherries fresh or dried
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter with brown and white sugar until fluffy.
  4. Mix in egg and vanilla.
  5. Gradually stir in dry ingredients.
  6. Fold in chopped cherries and chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop dough onto baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 11–13 minutes until edges are golden.
  9. Let cookies rest for 5 minutes on baking sheet before cooling completely on a rack.

Notes

Use dried cherries when fresh aren’t in season.
