Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 large orange
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup dried cranberries rehydrated optional
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips, dried cranberries, and (if using) chopped nuts.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges turn golden and centers are set.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
