Method
- Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter.
- Place the cubed bread evenly in the dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes, pressing down gently to soak the bread.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight or at least 6 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake uncovered for 45 minutes, or until custard is set and top is golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use day-old bread for best texture. Add fresh berries or nuts for extra flavor and texture. Serve with maple syrup or powdered sugar for sweetness.
