Ingredients

  • 1 cup Ripe mango (fresh or frozen) Peeled and diced. Adds natural sweetness and creaminess.
  • 1 medium Carrot Peeled and chopped. Use raw if using a high-speed blender, or lightly steam and cool for smoother texture.
  • 1 cup Orange juice Freshly squeezed or store-bought. Adds brightness and vitamin C.
  • 0.5 cup Plant-based milk Almond, oat, soy, or coconut milk for added creaminess.
  • 0.5 tsp Ground turmeric Or use 1 tsp freshly grated turmeric root.
  • 0.5 inch piece Fresh ginger (optional) Peeled. Adds a spicy, cleansing kick.
  • 1 tsp Maple syrup or agave (optional) Adjust to taste depending on mango ripeness.
  • 1 pinch Black pepper Enhances turmeric absorption significantly.
  • 1 cup Ice cubes Optional, for an extra chilled smoothie.

Method

  1. Peel and chop the carrot. If not using a high-speed blender, lightly steam the carrot for 5–7 minutes until tender. Let it cool before blending.
  2. Add all ingredients to a blender: mango, carrot, orange juice, plant milk, turmeric, ginger (if using), maple syrup, black pepper, and ice cubes. Add liquids first for smoother blending.
  3. Blend on high for 45–60 seconds, or until smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides if needed and blend again to ensure the carrot is fully pureed.
  4. Taste and adjust sweetness or citrus as desired. Add more maple syrup or a splash of lemon juice for balance.
  5. Pour into two glasses and serve immediately. Garnish with a sprinkle of turmeric or a twist of orange peel if desired.

Notes

• For extra nutrients, add chia seeds, flaxseeds, or a handful of spinach.
• This smoothie is best consumed fresh, but you can store it in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
• To prep ahead, freeze the mango and chopped carrot in portions, then blend with liquids when ready.
• Black pepper may seem odd, but it’s crucial to activate curcumin in turmeric.
• Swap orange juice with coconut water or pineapple juice for a tropical variation.
• Great as a post-workout recovery drink, a morning energizer, or a skin-glow booster!
